Muscat – Omani rally champion Abdullah al Rawahi and his Jordanian navigator Atta al Hamoud will compete in the first round of Jordan National Rally on Friday. The duo, in a Skoda Fabia, along with Oman’s other team of Zakaria al Amri and his co-driver Mohammed al Mazroui, in a Subaru Impreza N14, will be hoping for some valuable experience for the Jordan leg of the Middle East Rally Championship to be held next month.

Jordan National Rally, comprising five stages at the dead sea in Baptism and Ma’in will feature 24 drivers from Jordan, Lebanon, Kuwait and the Sultanate.

Al Rawahi, who won the first round of the Middle East rally championship in Oman in January withdrew from the second round in Qatar and will try to overcome the disappointment with a podium finish. Qatari champion Nasser al Attayah still leads the championship.

Al Amri will try to recover back from the last frustration in Qatar where he was forced to leave the rally during the super special stage due to some technical issues in the car.

Al Rawahi said: ”I am here in Jordan to prepare myself for the International one, which will be held in similar terrain and stages, we will be focusing on our strategy during the race and hope that it will end successfully this time without any technical problems to reach at top by the end of the race.”
